Pharos Traveler 137 Smartphone

A lot of people nowadays depend on the GPS to know the road to where they are going or for them to know the best route for one location to save up on gas or just to cut the time. But then, you have to have another separate device aside from your already existing phone. Now why don’t we have both? Well a bunch of phones can already serve as a GPS but the Pharos Traveler 137 is just different.

Pharos Science and Application, Inc. introduced during the Consumer Electronics Show(CES) their new smartphone to hit the market, the Pharos Traveler 137. This sleek GPS smartphone is entirely different from the others as this doesn’t depend on the carrier’s coverage zone but it can do show maps, create routes and navigate door-to-door.

The Traveler 137 is equipped with the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional to enable the user experience rich multimedia and optimum productivity with the applications available for the platform.

Inside the smartphone is a Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528MHz processor, 256MB DDR SDRAM, 512MB Flash ROM, 3.5″ touch screen wide VGA LCD display, 3 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, FM tuner, a micro SD slot and it can get data from 3G speeds up to HSDPA of 7.2mbps.

The phone will come unlocked meaning you will be able to use your existing simcard on the phone. Though being unlocked, it means that the unit will not be subsidized by the network thus explaining the $599.95 price.

Also, be reminded that the GPS Navigation will be charged by a pay-as-you-go system of $1.99/ day, $4.99/week, $6.99/month, or $49.99/ year of access.
